Girls basketball regional matchups for 4A, 3A, 2A

The pairings are set for the regional girls basketball tournaments and I thought I’d post them for Class 4A, 3A and 2A.

The WIAA is in the process of determine which games will be played where, and Josh Liebeskind will post the links to that information for both the boys and girls as it becomes available — hopefully by 1 or 2 p.m. today (Sunday).

Since I’ve been off covering state wrestling the past two days, I haven’t been able to keep you updated on the final finishes in all of the district tournaments — and there were some wild ones.

Edmonds-Woodway qualified in 4A with a 66-65 victory over Eastlake Saturday in a loser-out game between the No. 3 finishers out of the Northwest District and KingCo. Freshman Missy Peterson drove for the winning basket with seven seconds left, from what I read.

Kentridge beat Tahoma 50-48 in overtime for the seventh and final berth out of the West Central District.

In 3A, Liberty knocked out Holy Names for the fifth and final Sea-King District berth, 61-57. Auburn Mountainview knocked out Bonney Lake for the fifth West Central spot, 51-47, and Ferndale grabbed the last (third) Northwest District berth by beating Marysville-Pilchuck, 58-47.

Some of the district championship games were thrillers, too — like Inglemoor’s 47-46 win over Newport and Glacier Peak’s 53-52 victory over Mountlake Terrace. White River edged Sumner, 48-45.

I’ll be taking a closer look at the regional games later this week, but for now here’s the lineup (Just realized I had another error and I apologize — I “assumed” top-ranked Mark Morris beat No. 2 W.F. West when in fact that was an upset the other way!; and I had the 2A Northwest District championship finish wrong — sorry; Lynden is No. 1 and Burlington-Edison No. 2, so their opponents are now correctly flip-flopped). Remember, this will all be loser-out, winner-to-state games:
