Eric Ensign is the new head boys basketball coach at Mariner, the school announced in a brief press release.
“Mariner High School has named Eric Ensign as its new varsity boys’ basketball coach. Ensign, who teaches in the Seattle School District, has coached basketball for 14 years, most recently as the men’s assistant coach at Edmonds Community College. He previously served four years as the varsity head coach at Nathan Hale High School in Seattle, and in 2011-12 he was named Metro League Coach of the Year.”
Mariner athletic director Nate DeChesne added this comment today:
“Eric brings a wealth of experience and a great deal of energy to the position. We’re very excited to have him leading our boys basketball program.”
Ensign resigned from Nathan Hale following the 2012-13 season to “concentrate on his role as the High School Director at Hoopaholics and plans on spending more time with his family,” according to the statement Nathan Hale sent out at the time.
