LW tabs A.J. Parnell as football coach

A.J. Parnell, a 2002 Juanita High School graduate, has been named new head football coach at Lake Washington.

Parnell, who played quarterback at Bethel University in Minnesota, has been an assistant coach at Juanita since 2008, serving as offensive and defensive coordinator. He teaches health and fitness at Lake Washington.

“Coach A.J. Parnell is a great fit for Lake Washington High School,” athletic director George Crowder wrote in an e-mail. “Parnell grew up in the Kirkland area and certainly knows the community well.  He also has a great football background as a player and a coach.  In addition, coach Parnell’s mission statement says much about the man himself where he is will stress the importance of academic excellence, athletic success and strong character.”
