Bethea, Comer, Scherer headline WIBCA Hall of Fame

The 2014 class of inductees into the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame is impressive.

Two local current coaches, Mike Bethea of Rainier Beach and Rick Comer of Renton, headline the list along with former Bainbridge Coach Dean Scherer.

Here is the press release, along with a list of former inductees:

The Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association selected four new members to their Hall of Fame.   The 39th Annual Hall of Fame Banquet, at the Allenmore Events Center (Tacoma Elks) July 23, will honor three head coaches and one assistant: Rick Comer (Renton), Mike Bethea (Rainer Beach) and Dean Scherer (Bainbridge).  Al Gleich (North Mason, Olympic, North Kitsap) will be inducted as an assistant coach.  Dick Stark, longtime Whatcom County radio broadcaster, will receive the Ed Pepple Service Award for his positive contributions to high school basketball.  The Tacoma banquet begins with a social hour at 5PM followed by dinner and induction ceremony at 6PM.  Cost is $30.  RSVP Dave Dickson at 360-201-5218 or email  david.dickson@bellinghamschools.org
