Lynden 3rd in the MaxPreps Preseason Small Schools Rankings

Lynden, the reigning WIAA state champs in Class 2A, ranks third in the CBS MaxPreps Preseason Small Schools Rankings. Ellensburg, runners-up in 2A in 2013, is 23rd on the list. Trinity Christian Academy of Jacksonville is first with Kingfisher of Oklahoma second.

Lynden beat Tumwater, 38-28, in the 2A championship game last season. Jordan Wittenberg, a sophomore then, caught nine passes for 100 yards in the contest. The Lions start their season against King’s at Rollie DeKoster Field on Sept. 5 at 7 p.m.

Ellensburg lost to Lynden, 21-7, in the state semifinals.
