The latest news and analysis on high-school sports around the Seattle area

Juanita football on SportsCenter

Juanita was on SportsCenter the other night … kind of. During a Top 10 highlight of another high school team, anchor Kenny Mayne dropped Juanita’s name.

He said: “My daughter’s high school, Juanita, won 24-6, so there.”

As many of you probably know, Mayne is from the Seattle area. Juanita coach Shaun Tarantola said Mayne’s daughter is a sophomore at the school and “it’s nice for the kids” to be mentioned on a national broadcast.

Tarantola also said it isn’t the first time Mayne has used Juanita for a broadcast. During a satire piece a few years ago making fun of the rule to move the kickoff further up field, Tarantola was used as an actor. Had a line and everything. Lesson learned: Keep a close eye on Mayne for more Juanita shout-outs.
