FP football coach suspended 2 games

Franklin Pierce football coach Howard Lutton is in the middle of a two-game suspension for using an ineligible player in a preseason jamboree.

According to school administrators, Franklin Pierce self-reported the infraction to the SPSL, which handed out the two-game suspension.

Lutton missed last Friday’s 16-14 victory over River Ridge, the Cardinals’ first win of the season and the start of SPSL 2A competition. Long-time assistant Dave Naron served as acting head coach in that game and will be in charge again Friday as Franklin Pierce plays White River.

Lutton is able to run practices during the suspension, but cannot have any association with the team during set periods on the two game days (beginning two hours before and ending two hours after the game). He is not allowed to watch from the stands.
