Football: Weekend in review

Another weekend of football is in the books, with some surprising results. Let’s jump right into it.

– The big story is Woodinville knocking off No. 2 Skyline 26-23 on the road. The result makes the KingCo race behind No. 1 Bothell a bit muddled, with Skyline, Woodinville, Eastlake, Newport and Mount Si with either one or two losses. Newport and Mount Si both have two losses, but have played Bothell and Skyline, the early-season favorite.

– Eastside Catholic and watched the Crusaders easily handle Lakeside in a 42-16. Some great behind-the-scenes photos and information from the Eastside Catholic game.

– Kent-Meridian easily topped Kentlake 37-9. Takeaways were the name of the game for the Royals, as they start 1-0 in the SPSL 4A Northeast Division.

– Juanita lost starting quarterback Tavin Montgomery to a knee injury, but still beat Mercer Island 24-17.

– Good stuff from The News Tribune in its roundup, also with a story on Bethel’s last-second win over Rogers.

– In a battle of ranked teams, 4A Gonzaga Prep held off 3A Mt. Spokane 28-25.

– Tumwater with a big win over Idaho power Lake City, which had beat Shadle Park the week before.

– Camas continues to win, this one quite easily over Evergreen.
