Emanuels, Ta’ase named WIAA Athletes of the Week

Mercer Island’s David Emanuels and Ballard’s Jacob Ta’ase were named WIAA Athletes of the Week.

Emanuels returned two fumbles for touchdowns in two quarters in a victory over Interlake, while Ta’ase tossed for four scores in a win against Nathan Hale.

Jacob Ta’ase (SR)
Ballard HS – 4A
Football Ta’ase completed 7 of 16 passes for 225 yards with four touchdowns to help defeat Nathan Hale, 38-28, at Memorial Stadium.

Abby Pfeifer (SR)
Emerald Ridge HS – 4A
Golf Pfeifer completed her dual match career by being the medalist and led her team to a share of the SPSL South Division championship, with a three-over par 39 at Lipoma Firs Golf Course.

David Emanuels (SR)
Mercer Island HS – 3A
Football Emanuels returned two fumbles for touchdowns and recorded six tackles in two quarters of play, in the Islanders 46-13 victory over Interlake on 10/10.

Rachel Stowell (SR)
Sumner HS – 3A
Soccer Stowell scored the Spartans’ winning goal in the second overtime of their match last week.

Eli Whitmire (SR)
Woodland HS – 2A
Football Whitmire had an amazing game against Mark Morris as he scored seven touchdowns, three interceptions, one blocked kick, and caused one fumble. His scores came by four rushes and three receiving, which broke a 42 year old single-game touchdown record held by his father.

Bella Gama (SO)
Ridgefield HS – 2A
Volleyball Gama racked up 32 assists, 16 kills, 12 digs, eight blocks, and six aces in victories over Hockinson and Woodland.

Kyle Young (SR)
Meridian HS – 1A
Football Young came up big for the Trojan offense against Nooksack Valley, finishing with 151 receiving yards and two touchdowns on three receptions in the victory.

Samantha Drechsel (SO)
Cedar Park Christian (Bothell) HS – 1A
Volleyball Drechsel had a stellar performance last week at the Linda Sheridan Classic totaling 75 kills and 37 digs. In league play, she posted 35 kills, 33 digs, three assists, and 2.5 blocks where they defeated South Whidbey and Cedarcrest.

Keifer Kastl (SR)
Onalaska HS – 2B
Football Kastl rushed for 339 yards and a school record seven touchdown to beat Wahkiakum 56-21. He carried the ball 31 times for a 10.9 yard per carry average.

Mollie Olson (FR)
Napavine HS – 2B
Volleyball Olson led her team with strong offensive and defensive play in two matches last week. She tallied 41 kills, 38 digs, and 20 aces.

Carlos Ceinceros (SR)
Pateros HS – 1B
Football Ceinceros had 373 yards receiving and six touchdowns, as well as a seventh score on a kick return for the Billygoats. Additionally, he accounted for 12 tackles on defense.

Jesse Caddel (JR)
Three Rivers Christian HS – 1B
Volleyball Caddel recorded 26 kills, 20 assists, 13 digs, and six aces to help beat Firm Foundation and Columbia Adventist Academy last week.
