Eastside Catholic hasn’t shied away from lining up tough non-conference opponents, and Friday’s matchup against American Fork (Utah) may have been the hardest.
The Crusaders’ lone loss this season came in the opener to Bishop Alemany (Calif.), a 31-14 defeat.
“All these great competitive games, like an O’Dea, like a Bishop Alemany, like an American Fork, are going to prepare you for the wars for the playoffs,” Eastside Catholic coach Jeremy Thielbahr said last week.
Well, if the 20-13 win over American Fork is any indication, the No. 2 Crusaders are ready for another deep playoff run. How good is the American Fork team that Eastside Catholic beat? It’s the No. 3 team in Utah, according to MaxPreps, with its only other loss to No. 2 Brighton. American Fork also has a pair of three-star and two-star recruits, according to Scout.com.
We’ll see how it affects Eastside Catholic as it moves forward to the playoffs.
