It’s here, already.

While area football teams complete their regular seasons this weekend, girls swimming enters its first full slate of post-season meets.

The South Puget Sound League got a jump on things last weekend. The 4A and 3A SPSL sub-district meets took place last Friday and Saturday.

In 4A, the Puyallup Vikings out-paced runner-up Tahoma, 246-212. Mount Rainier and Kentlake followed at 202 and 182 points.

The Vikings also had the only double-winner in the SPSL meet. Mackenzie Mergel won the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

The 4A SPSL joins the Narrows League for the only district meet of this weekend, Friday and Saturday at Curtis High in University Place.

Most of the remainder of the Puget Sound schools head into league meets beginning on Halloween Friday and concluding Saturday. The Wesco 4A and 3A combine for two “Last Chance” meets rather than individual league meets, on Thursday afternoon.

Stanwood, Oak Harbor, Mount Vernon, Monroe, Marysville-Getchell, Lake Stevens and Everett join host Marysville-Pilchuck at 2:45 p.m. for the North meet. Shorecrest
Mountlake Terrace, Meadowdale, Mariner, Lynnwood, Kamiak, Jackson, Glacier Peak, Edmonds-Woodway, Cascade, and Shorewood are at Snohomish at 3:30 p.m. for the South competition.
