CORRECTION: This blog post had Ballard as the second place team in the Metro League championships. Bainbridge was the second place team, not Ballard.
Lakeside High School claimed the Metro League swim title Saturday, edging Bainbridge 678-667 for first place.
Seattle Prep’s Cameron Smith, Holy Names Academy’s Sophia Chien and Garfield’s Marley Cross were double champs in individual events. All three qualified for the state tournament with their swims. Smith won the 200 free (1:54.10) and 500 free (5:03.81), Chien claimed the 100 butterfly (57.53) and 100 backstroke (1:00.33) while Cross took the 100 free (52.03) and 50 free (24.07).
Zora Opalka of Bainbridge won the 1-meter diving title with 399.30 points.
