Lakeside defeats Mercer Island for Sea-King district volleyball title

Lakeside defeated Mercer Island in the district championship 17-25, 25-18, 19-25, 25-12, 15-12, on Saturday. Holy Names Academy defeated Eastside Catholic for 3rd place: 25-23, 25-14, 19-25, 25-18. All six teams: Lakeside, Mercer Island, Holy Names, Eastside Catholic, Seattle Prep and Bellevue, advance to the Class 3A state tournament in Lacey. Those matches take place on Nov. 14 at St. Martins University. The first round schedule:

Ferndale vs. Capital, 8 a.m.
Eastside Catholic vs. Edmonds-Woodway, 8 a.m.
North Thurston vs. Southridge, 8 a.m.
Bellevue vs. Mercer Island, 9:45 a.m.
Holy Names vs. Columbia River, 9:45 a.m.
Praire vs. Kamiakin, 9:45 a.m.
Marysville-Pilchuck vs. Lakeside, 11:45 a.m.
Seattle Prep vs. Auburn Riverside, 11:45 a.m.
