Tumwater cocah says Lynden will be tough to beat in 2A final

Longtime Tumwater football coach Sid Otton was impressed with Sedro-Woolley in last Saturday’s 2A semifinal game — which the Cubs won 28-27 over the top-ranked Thunderbirds.

“They’re a very good team, and we made too many mistakes,” Otton said.

When asked how he sees this Saturday’s championship game between Sedro-Woolley and Lynden, he mentioned the tight game the two teams played on Oct. 24. The Lions won just 33-30.

But Otton also brought up Lynden’s tradition. This is a program that has won the past three 2A state titles and five of the past six (Tumwater interrupted the string in 2010).

“I think it’s going to be tough to beat Lynden,” he said. “They’ve been there so many times. But, who knows? That’s why they play.”
