Austin Joyner named Gatorade Football Player of the Year

Marysville-Pilchuck’s Austin Joyner has been named the Washington state football Gatorade Player of the Year.

Joyner rushed for 1,768 yards on 133 attempts (13.3 yards per carry) and 32 touchdowns in leading the Tomahawks to the Class 3A state semifinals. Joyner is also a standout defensive back who was committed to Washington State before defensive coordinator Mike Breske was let go this past Sunday.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound consensus four-star recruit wants to play defensive back in collegeĀ and is considering Washington, Washington State and Boise State.
