Coach: Butch Goncharoff, 15th year, 183-12.
Season Snapshot: The Wolverines (13-0) cruised through another regular season and early playoffs, but were seriously tested by Marysville-Pilchuck in the semifinals, then pulled away from a 10-10 tie with 10 unanswered points to win 20-10.
Two to watch:LB Mustafa Branch (6-0, 220, Sr.), from his inside linebacker position, runs down virtually everything opposing offenses attempt to run. QB Justus Rogers (6-2, 215, Jr.) wreaks havoc on opposing defenses as yet another threat out of the Wolverines’ wing-T offense.
Eastside Catholic Crusaders
Coach: Jeremy Thielbahr, fourth year, 43-7.
Season Snapshot: Eastside Catholic (12-1) has not lost in the state this season. The only blemish came against Alemany (Mission Hills, Calif.) in Week 1, 31-14. The Crusaders have had to come from behind in each of their last two playoff games, however — having trailed Lincoln (14-0) and Mount Spokane (7-0).
Two to watch:QB Harley Kirsch (6-3, 220, Jr.) has built on the success he enjoyed as a sophomore to become a complete leader for this offense. Kirsch has thrown for 2,904 yards and 36 touchdowns already this year. WR Matt Laris (6-4, 210, Jr.) has caught 70 passes for 1,366 yards and 12 TDs this season. He has 456 receiving yards and four TDs in the last three playoff games.
