Inside look: Bothell football vs. Miami Central

While most people ponder going back to work this Friday after Christmas, the Bothell football team is already in Florida for the inaugural Burger King State Champions Bowl Series. The Cougars play Miami Central on Saturday on ESPNU.

Place/time: Florida Atlantic University (Boca Raton, Fla.) at 1 p.m.

Opponent: Miami Central (14-1), three-time defending 6A state champions and winners of four of the last five

Key player: Receiver Da’Vante Phillips is No. 58 on the ESPN 300 (Senior) list and is currently fielding offers from Florida State, Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida and Tennessee, among others

Matchup to watch: Ross Bowers and Dayzell Wilson have connected all season. It won’t be easy against Miami Central, but if Bothell can get the passing game going then it will take pressure off a running attack still missing Sam McPherson.

It’s going to be a great challenge for us, and we should give them a good game if we do what we’re capable of doing and focus on one play at a time.”
