The Recruiting Corner

By KJ Hiramoto

Lincoln free safety Dehonta Hayes visited UC Davis earlier in the week, coach Jon Kitna said. The 5-foot-11, 190 pound senior also visited Nevada in December and is scheduling visits to Utah State and Wyoming in the future.

Kitna also said that Hayes’s teammate Jayson Williams II visited Eastern Washington last week. The senior wide receiver is also anticipating future visits to Montana and Portland State. The 6-foot-1, 189 pound playmaker transferred to Lincoln from Curtis prior to the start of his senior year after his family moved to the Tacoma School District.

Washington defensive backs coach Jimmy Lake visited Juanita RB/CB Salvon Ahmed earlier on Friday, according to coach Shaun Tarantola. UW made an offer to the 5-foot-10, 186 pound sophomore last October. Oregon coach Mark Helfrich is also planning a trip to Kirkland on Jan. 22 to meet with the 2017 prospect. Ahmed has an offer from UW so far.

Bellevue sophomore Augie Fratt on Friday committed to Boston University for lacrosse, according to the Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association. Coming off Bellevue’s third consecutive Washington state championship, Fratt scored 14 goals, one assist and grabbed six ground balls during the 2014 campaign.

Earlier Friday, Steilacoom linebacker Fotu Leiato added Oregon to his long list of football scholarship offers. The 6-foot, 200 pound senior holds offers from UW, WSU, UCLA, Illinois, Oklahoma, and San Diego State. Leiato will be making an official visit to WSU on Jan. 16-18.
