I missed this last week, but King’s coach Dan Taylor pointed it out and it’s worthy of sharing.
Colton broke the Washington state girls basketball record for consecutive victories with 57, and has since added two more wins to stretch it to 59.
The Wildcats (15-0) have swept the past six 1B state championships and are 185-8 since the 2007-08 season, when they placed second.
The previous record record of 56 was shared by Lakeside of Seattle (ending in the 1992-93 season), Kennewick (1999-2000) and Central Valley (2000-01).
Prairie snapped Lakeside’s streak in the semifinals of the 3A (then AA) state tournament in 1993. You can read the story we had on it here.
Colton’s last loss came Dec. 29, 2012, a 43-34 defeat at the hands of Kamiah, Idaho.
