Current Metro girls standings, postseason glance

Here are the current Metro League girls basketball standings, by division, with their overall Metro records.

It’s a bit confusing this year.

All 16 teams will advance to the Metro Tournament. However, only the top two teams in each division (six total) will qualify for the championship bracket. They will be seeded into the bracket based on their Metro League records and play for the top six spots into the Sea-King District tournament.

The other 10 Metro teams will play in a separate bracket for the remaining three berths to district. The Metro has nine allocations to district.

Ties will be broken by head-to-head if possible (not likely with three-way ties), record within the division and if all else fails a mini-game.
Bishop Blanchet is sitting is a rough spot right now as the No. 3 team in the ultra-tough Mountain Division behind Lakeside and Holy Names, with losses to both of those teams. The Braves will need help to make it into the championship bracket of the league tournament.

Mountain Division (Metro)
Lakeside 3-0 (9-1)
Holy Names 3-0 (8-2)
Blanchet 2-2 (8-2)
Seattle Prep 1-2 (6-4)
Eastside Catholic 1-3 (5-5)
Bainbridge 0-3 (3-7)

Valley Division (Metro)
Cleveland 2-0 (9-2)
Garfield 3-1 (7-4)
Ingraham 1-2 (3-7)
Franklin 1-2 (1-9)
Nathan Hale 0-2 (0-10)

Sound Division (Metro)
West Seattle 3-0 (10-0)
Ballard 2-0 (6-4)
Roosevelt 1-2 (2-8)
Chief Sealth 1-2 (3-7)
Rainier Beach 0-3 (2-8)

So, if the season ended today, this is how the Metro Tournament would be seeded:

Championship Bracket (all to District)

   School (Metro Record)
1 West Seattle (10-0)
2 Lakeside (9-1)
3 Cleveland (9-2)
4 Holy Names (8-2)
5 Garfield (7-4)
6 Ballard (6-4)

To Districts Bracket (3 berths)
7 Blanchet (8-2)
8 Seattle Prep (6-4)
9 Eastside Catholic (5-5)
10 Ingraham (3-7) Tie
      Chief Sealth (3-7)
12 Bainbridge (3-7)
13 Roosevelt (2-8)
14 Rainier Beach (2-8)
15 Franklin (1-9)
16 Nathan Hale (0-10)
