Josiah Bronson has often been described as a late bloomer, so it seemed only fitting his signing ceremony started about a half hour later than expected in the Kentwood library, around 3 p.m. – primarily because a few family members ran behind – including brother Demitrius, who spent this past season on the Seahawks practice squad. Dad, John, brought a balloon bouquet in celebration of Josiah’s signing with Temple (which officially took place at 7:01 a.m.). “His best days are in front of him,” Kentwood football coach Rex Norris said as Josiah’s family and friends looked on.
Afterward, in another area of the library, soccer players Jennifer Oak (Western Washington) and Bailey Griglio (Montana State) took their turn in the spotlight and officially signed their paperwork. Kentwood athletic director told onlookers, “This is a big deal.” Both players said they took up soccer at age 4. There were chocolate and vanilla cupcakes arranged to look like a soccer ball with “Congratulations” written in Kentwood green.
