Video: Mercer Island boys beat O’Dea to clinch spot in regionals

O’Dea led for much of the game, but No. 2 Mercer Island came through down the stretch to take a 44-42 victory over the Irish in the Sea-King 3A District tournament at Bellevue College. Kaleb Warner scored all seven of Mercer Island’s points in the fourth quarter and led the Islanders with 12 points. Tyler Kidd led O’Dea with 13 points.

Video: Kentwood’s Jackson Huerta hits game-winning, half-court buzzer-beater in OT

Kentwood, which made the SPSL playoffs on Wednesday after Kent-Meridian was forced to forfeit its victories because of an ineligible player, kept its season alive by beating Emerald Ridge, 53-52, to earn the final seed to the district tournament. And they won in overtime on a half-court buzzer-beater by Jackson Huerta after ER had hit two free throws with 2.5 seconds left to take the lead.

Video: Rainier Beach handles Franklin to reach Metro title game

No. 1 Rainier Beach had no trouble defeating Franklin, 91-69, to earn a spot in the Metro boys basketball title game. The Vikings will face Lakeside, who beat Seattle Prep in the other semifinal. Rainier Beach and Franklin each had four players with double-digit scoring. Shaqquan Aaron led Beach with 22, and Arell Hennings led the Quakers with 18.
