Bellevue football takes its turn practicing at the VMAC

A number of playoff teams in the area have used the Seattle Seahawks’ practice facility in preparation for the postseason. Today the top-ranked Wolverines are the latest team to take practice to Renton. It’s the second-straight year Bellevue has used the VMAC to prepare for a state championship and coach Butch Goncharoff thinks the indoor environment…

Archbishop Murphy-Lynden football, post-game quotes

DAVE WARD, Archbishop Murphy coach

(on how Lynden improved from season opener)

I think their line really improved, they were able to play well up front. Of course, they didn’t turn it over. We started trying too hard in the second half and the ball starting popping out. We have a lot of heart on this team and we came in here to win this game. They wanted to turn it around, and have the momentum go our way, but I mean that’s a good team. They’re a senior dominated team. They executed well.

Prediction time: Girls state soccer, semifinal edition

Issaquah v. Kamiakin — Anyone would be hard-pressed to pick against the Eagles right now. They have scored three goals or more in each game for more than a month. Read that sentence again, then reconsider the strength of the KingCo 4A League and the state tournament, and let that soak in. I’ll take Issy 3-1.

Skyline v. Kentwood — This should be a high-quality match. I’ve seen both these teams play in the playoffs and both really knock the ball around well. The Spartans have scored just one goal in five of their last six games, but I’m giving the defending champs the edge since they have done it before and the Conks have never made the semis. Skyline wins 1-0.
