Seattle-area ties run deep for new Lincoln football coach

Through coaching and commitment, new Lincoln of Tacoma football coach Masaki Matsumoto hopes to instill certain attributes in his student athletes that will make them successful going forward in life. “Discipline, accountability, love,” Matsumoto said. “Once you do that, success and wins on the field are just a by-product. We’ve won by changing kids’ hearts.”

Lynden 3rd in the MaxPreps Preseason Small Schools Rankings

Lynden, the reigning WIAA state champs in Class 2A, ranks third in the CBS MaxPreps Preseason Small Schools Rankings. Ellensburg, runners-up in 2A in 2013, is 23rd on the list. Trinity Christian Academy of Jacksonville is first with Kingfisher of Oklahoma second. Lynden beat Tumwater, 38-28, in the 2A championship game last season.
