As a kid, Brittany McPhee dreamed of playing basketball for Stanford, which features one of the best women’s programs in the country.
That dream is closer to reality now that McPhee made an oral commitment to the Cardinal earlier this month.
“That was definitely kind of the goal when I was little,” said McPhee, Washington’s two-time Gatorade Player of the Year who will be a senior at Mount Rainier this fall.. “I was like, ‘Oh, I’ll go to Stanford. But in the back of my mind, I never really thought it was actually possible or it was actually going to happen, so it’s really cool to actually be able to go there.”
McPhee, a 6-foot forward with a 4.0 GPA, averaged 27.0 points and 12.3 rebounds last season while leading the Rams to the 4A state semifinals for the second year in a row. She also put together three or more blocks, assists and steals per game.
She said she chose Stanford over Gonzaga, Washington and Nebraska.More
