Mariners minor-league report, May 18

Here’s the latest from down under (no, that’s not a subtle Ryan Rowland-Smith reference).

Carlos Peguero hit another homer, his 12th, for West Tennessee. Steven Shell pitched well again for Tacoma and has a 2.00 ERA in nine appearances, seven of them starts. Big Tommy Everidge is hot (back-to-back three-hit games).

Today’s pick to click is right-handed pitcher Kenn Kasparek with High Desert, who had another strong outing (three hits and two runs allowed in six innings, beating Stockton). Kasparek has allowed two earned runs or fewer in seven of his first eight starts for a 3-1 record and 2.61 ERA. Kasparek was a 12th-round pick in 2008 out of the University of Texas. He missed the 2007 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
