Mariners re-sign RHP Jamey Wright

The Mariners’ spring-training camp is getting more crowded. Today, the Ms re-signed right-handed pitcher Jamey Wright, giving the free agent a minor-league deal and a spring training invitation.

Wright brings the total of non-roster invitees to 21 — eight right-handed pitchers, four left-handed pitchers, three catchers, three infielders, and three outfielders.

Wright, 36, joined the Mariners last year on July 15, and appeared in 28 games, all in relief. He was 0-1 with a 3.41 earned-run average in 37 innings. Wright began the 2010 season with the Indians, and moved to the Oakland organization when he was designated for assignment by Cleveland on June 4. He opted out of his contract with the A’s Triple-A affiliate in Sacramento to sign with the Mariners.

Wright has pitched for eight different teams in a 15-year career.

Over the weekend, the Mariners were reported to be a finalist for free agent pitcher Justin Duchscherer, who signed with the Orioles. Kevin Millwood , Jeremy Bonderman, John Maine and Doug Davis are among the free-agent starting pitchers still unsigned.
