Mariner minor-league report, April 12

Just like last year, I’ll try to provide for you as often as I can the comprehensive minor-league reports the Mariners release every day. Kelly Munro does a great job putting them together, with highlights from each game the previous night, box scores, and season stats. I know there’s a lot of interest in what’s going on down below (especially considering what’s going on above). Here’s the one from today.

Power-starved Mariner fans: Note that Carlos Peguero, Johermyn Chavez, Rich Poythress and Dennis Raben all homered yesterday. Dustin Ackley is off to a .158 start after five games (3-for-19) with Tacoma, but he does five walks and a .333 on-base percentage.

Two guys that caught my eye, both with Class A Clinton: Julio Morban, a 19-year-old outfielder out of the Dominican Republic, is off to an 8-for-19 start (.476), and Marcus LIttlewood, also 19, the Mariners’ second-round draft pick last year, is 6-for-14 (.429).

Nick Franklin is still hitless in 12 at-bats at High Desert, but it’s just three games in.
