Mariner minor-league report, April 26

Here is today’s minor-league report.

Note that in the Tacoma box and summary, David Aardsma was listed as pitching for the Rainiers in their 5-4 win over Salt Lake. It was actuallly Josh Lueke, who was making his first appearance since been sent down by the Mariners. Aardsma was listed in the official box because of a clerical error in Salt Lake City. Dustin Ackley had the big hit for Tacoma, a two-run double in the 12th inning to break a 3-3 tie.

Ackley’s North Carolina teammate, Kyle Seager, had four hits in Jackson’s 7-5 loss to Mobile and is now hitting .312. Josh Fields, a former first-round draft pick by the Mariners, drew the loss, but both runs he gave up were unearned, and Fields’ ERA dropped to 0.84. In 10 2/3 innings, Fields has given up just three hits, and opponents are hitting just .086. He has walked nine, however, to go with seven strikeouts.

The High Desert web site has details of Ken Griffey Jr. making a visit to work with Mavericks players.
