Wednesday P.M. update

As promised, we’ll follow up here on the earlier blog report about Ashlee Palmer attending today’s practice — apparently the first time he has attended a practice this fall. Palmer, a JC transfer, hasn’t practiced with the team while completing academic requirements.
Coach Tyrone Willingham, when asked after practice if Palmer’s presence on the sidelines indicated anything, said only “not yet.” But the manner in which he said it seemed to indicate that the outcome will be good.
UW still has at least four other players in academic limbo who could get eligible this season, including WR Chancellor Young, whom Willingham mentioned again Thursday as having a chance at returning. One who it sounds like may not make it in is true freshman running back Leilyon Myers, who has been seeking the okay from the NCAA Clearinghouse. Willingham said only “probably not” when asked about Myers.
Willingham said there were no new injuries and no other movement on the personnel front.
In response to a reader e-mail I got recently, I asked Willingham today whether Marlon Wood received a redshirt for last season, when he was injured against USC. Willingham said Wood did not qualify for one since he was hurt in the seventh game of the season — too late in the year to receive an injury redshirt. Wood is officially listed as a junior on UW’s roster.
