Scrimmage redux

Here are some other notes and observations from Saturday’s scrimmage:
&#8226 I attempted to chart all the numbers for the quarterbacks during the drills in which there was live tackling. And while I caution that these are very unofficial, here’s what I came up with:
— Isaiah Stanback — 4-for-12 passing for 69 yards and one touchdown; 10 rushes for 50 yards which included two sacks for minus-15 yards. (One caveat on the rushing numbers: QBs in the scrimmage were off-limits to full-contact and were down when touched). Stanback missed six of his first seven passes but then hit three of his last five on a nice drive against the No. 2 defense that concluded in the first touchdown of the scrimmage. He seemed much better passing on the run.
— Carl Bonnell — 4 for 8 for 34 yards; sacked four times for minus-25 yards.
— Johnny DuRocher — 2 for 9 for 19 yards; two rushes for minus-2 yards, including one sack for minus-5.
— Jake Locker: 2 for 3 for 77 yards, including a 71-yard TD to Marlon Wood; three rushes for 22 yards.
&#8226 Here are the numbers I had for the two main tailbacks: Kenny James 3 rushes for 8 yards, Louis Rankin 3 for 13. Again, I caution those are very unofficial, but they are at least an accurate depiction of the fact that there wasn’t a whole lot of room for the backs to run Saturday. Also, I’d caution against anyone reading into the ratio of running to passing in these numbers as much of the scrimmage was spent conducting a two-minute drill, which obviously lends itself to more passing.
