Wallace suffers concussion – updated

Washington strong safety C.J. Wallace was knocked out and suffered an apparent concussion in Thursday’s scrimmage. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center for what a UW spokesman said were “precautionary measures.”
He was released from Harborview a few hours later.
Wallace was injured when he collided head-to-head with a receiver.
A University of Washington spokesman said that Wallace was “up and about” shortly after being taken to Harborview and was expected to be released later tonight.
It was immediately uncertain how the injury will affect Wallace this season. UW begins play Sept. 2 against San Jose State. He is the team’s leading returning tackler and a key part of the team’s defense.
UW coach Tyrone Willingham did not meet with the media afterward as part of earlier plans to attend another function. He will address the issue Friday during his usual noon-time meeting with the media.
Wallace was reportedly injured in the early portion of the scrimmage shortly after media were escorted out — media are allowed to watch only the first 25 minutes.
