Owens, scores and more

First off, I want to make sure you saw a story I wrote this morning about Tyrone Willingham offering Jim Owens a trip to the game this weekend.
The signifigance of it is laid out in the story.
It is also an indication of how Willingham seems to be reaching out to former coaches and players. Some of each have complained they haven’t felt welcomed by past regimes. But that doesn’t seem to be the case now. Jim Lambright attended a practice or two this fall, Don James is always around at various functions, and now Willingham has reached out to Owens. (Though I don’t think we’ll see Rick Neuheisel back any time soon).
Also, here’s an interesting story from Oklahoma on their thoughts on defending Isaiah Stanback. That’s a topic we’ll be touching on here in the next day or so as well.
Finally, the Pac-10 gets back in action tonight, which means it’s time to throw out a prediction. I went 6-2 on the picks here last week, including coming within two points of a direct hit on the WSU-Auburn game — I called it 38-14 Auburn and it finished 40-14. Showing, apparently, everyone gets lucky sometimes.
For tonight, let’s call it Oregon State 35, Boise State 31 in what figures to be a highly emotional contest. This has become quite the rivalry the past four years. So good, that as this story details, the two schools plan to keep playing.
