Monday notes

The new depth chart is out and it contains virtually no changes from last week. But then the only real personnel question is the health of E.J. Savannah, who hurt a thumb Saturday. We’ll find out more on him at the news conference later today.
Dan Howell is listed on the depth chart and is expected back this week after missing Saturday’s game to attend his father’s funeral.
I asked today if anybody had noticed that Willingham seemed to have begun talking more about being a “bowl victory” team rather than merely a “bowl team.” At least one person told me they heard Willingham said “bowl victory” team at the kickoff luncheon, so I may have to stand corrected. Regardless, the point I was trying to make is that he suddenly seems much more open about his goals for this year, which might indicate a growing confidence in his team.
And here are the two new weekly polls, with UW getting three votes in the coaches poll.
Here’s a link to the Los Angeles Daily News’ UCLA page, which doesn’t contain much, since the Bruins had a bye last weekend.
As I explained in my story today, it’s the sixth time since 1997 that UCLA has had a bye the week before facing the Huskies. UCLA is 5-0 in the previous meetings, one possible reason they are 8-1 against UW since 1996.
More later after the news conference.
