Stanback, Goldson ready to go

QB Isaiah Stanback and DB Dashon Goldson should each be ready to go Saturday when the Huskies take on Oregon State, UW coach Tyrone Willingham said today when he met the media before practice.
Willingham said Stanback has had increasing work throughout practice this week while recovering from a hip pointer suffered against USC. “I anticipate that he will be ready to go Saturday,” Willingham said.
Stanback appeared to be getting some rest during the 25-minute portion of practice open to the media on Thursday, however, as Carl Bonnell and Jake Locker appeared to be taking almost all the snaps.
Willingham said Goldson, recovering from a concussion, “has had a good week of practice” so he anticipates that he will be able to play.
Goldson is almost certain to start at free safety with Jason Wells out with a concussion. Wells did not practice on Tuesday or Wednesday and appeared to still be out during the Thursday part of practice that is open to the media. Wells also suffered a concussion against USC.
Backup LB Kyle Trew is wearing red this week due to stingers, Willingham said.
Willingham also said LB E.J. Savannah, out the last three games with a broken bone in his hand, is likely to play. He will wear a wrap on his hand.
As for the signifigance of the scoreboard at Wednesday’s practice — it read UW ball with 1:34 to go, trailing 26-20, the same scenario that greeted the team before the final drive against USC —- Willingham said there wasn’t any.
“It was just a two-minute situation, that’s all,” he said.
