Bonnell says he’s fine, James uncertain

Washington quarterback Carl Bonnell said today he suffered a third-degree AC sprain of his left (non-throwing) shoulder late in the first half of Saturday’s game at Cal.
But he said the injury shouldn’t affect either his practice or playing status this week.
Bonnell said he was sore Sunday but said “it was 100 times better” when he woke up Monday.
He attended Monday’s news conference with no sling or any other protective device and several times demonstrated for reporters that he could move his arm around.
Bonnell said he was hurt just a few plays before he threw a TD pass to Anthony Russo that put UW ahead 10-0.
He said he was “numbed up” at halftime which allowed him to persevere through the second half and overtime. UW coach Tyrone Willingham said he never seriously considered taking Bonnell out of the game.
— The news isn’t as good on RB Kenny James. Willingham said James suffered a sprained right ankle and that further tests were being taken Monday to determine the extent of the injury. Like last week with Isaiah Stanback, Willingham may know more by the time he does his radio show on KJR-AM tonight at 4:30 p.m.
— Willingham also said there was a chance a player could be moved from another position to play tailback if needed to fill in depth with James out. But he said it was unlikely Johnie Kirton would be moved. Willingham didn’t say it, but I think the most likely scenario is that a fullback (Luke Kravitz?) would play more at TB.
