James may be able to play

Got a little bit of a surprise when I talked with Washington running backs coach Trent Miles today. He said there’s a decent chance that Kenny James will be able to play Saturday against Arizona State.
James sprained his ankle Saturday against Cal and was still in a walking boot today, which seemed to project poorly for his chances to play againist ASU.
But Miles said James could return to practice by Wednesday.
UW coach Tyrone Willingham said earlier today that the final MRI results on James’ sprained ankle, taken Monday, weren’t back yet. Miles said that as well.
But Miles said after talking with James, “I’m hopeful that he’ll be back. When I talked to him, he seemed confident that he was going to try to be able to be back, and back by [Wednesday]. We just have to see what they say and how he performs trying to be on the ankle today. We won’t know for sure until he gets out there and tests it. But he really wants to play and he’s going to give a great effort to get out there, so he’s not ruled out by any means.”
If James is back, that will solve most of the questions about UW’s running back rotation for the game.
