Ty explains tying it up, and more

Here are some early-morning links for you all:
First, here’s our story today giving Tyrone Willingham’s explanations on going for the tie at the end of the Cal game rather than going for two, as well as what happened on Cal’s two-point play when UW had just 10 men on the field. There are also some injury updates.
One thing I decided while listening to Carl Bonnell on Monday is that the Huskies must really be trying to save Jake Locker’s redshirt year. If they were looking for reasons to play him, they had one at halftime when they might not have known how bad Bonnell’s shoulder was. With four games left, it seems more probable that only major injury gets Locker on the field.
Also, here’s a story from the Charlotte News and Observer listing Willingham as one of 10 coaches North Carolina might consider to replace John Bunting. These stories have been out there for a few days and I’ve hesitated to post them because I think this is a longer shot than Willingham going to work at Chippendale’s. I just can’t imagine he’d consider leaving after two years with his son still in high school here and all he’s said about how much he enjoys living here. I think this is just one of those deals where reporters are trying to put together lists and anyone with even the most remote ties gets mentioned — Willingham grew up in Kinston, N.C., but hasn’t lived near there in about 20 years since he was an assistant at North Carolina State from 1983-85.
Finally, here’s the word today from Arizona on the Huskies with lots of quotes from Bonnell about what happened Saturday that he said during Monday’s press conference.
