James cleared to play

Tyrone Willingham said the final MRI results on Kenny James’ ankle showed only that it was sprained.
Whether he will be able to play Saturday now depends on how quickly he recovers.
Willingham said James didn’t practice Tuesday and it was uncertain how much he would be able to do today.
“We’ll take it day-by-day,” Willingham said. “He’s committed to trying to play this weekend.”
The only other notable player who was limited Tuesday was safety C.J. Wallace. Willingham said Wallace doesn’t have one specific injury holding him back right now — though Wallace’s knee was wrapped during the Cal game — but rather an “accumulation” of injuries acquired during the season.
Willingham said Carl Bonnell was “fine” during Tuesday’s practice and was able to take the regular amount of snaps for a starting quarterback.
Jake Locker took the regular number of snaps for a backup and while Willingham said again that “I’m pleased with his progress” he also cautioned that “there’s still a lot that he needs to learn.”
Willingham also briefly touched on the suspension of Michael Houston Tuesday saying that he delves out punishment in such situations on a “case by case” basis.
