ASU down to three?

The Arizona State coaching search is getting interesting, and also, apparently close to an end.
And three main candidates appear to be Dennis Erickson, Mike Price and Mike Riley, judging by the stories coming out today. But as is common in these things — where solid information is hard to come by — it’s hard to tell exactly who is the favorite.
First, here’s Jim Meehan’s blog in the Spokesman-Review with Erickson confirming he is talking to ASU.
Next, here’s Ken Goe’s column in today’s Oregonian stating that Mike Riley may also be talking with ASU, with OSU officials unsure where he was late Thursday.
Here’s an Arizona Republic story saying the hire could come by Saturday and that Price’s chances of landing the job appeared to improve on Thursday.
Finally, here’s another story from the East Valley Tribune saying it appears to be those three coaches in the running, plus maybe Norm Chow and Steve Mariucci.
Obviously, their Washington ties mean the hiring of either Erickson or Price would make ASU one of the most interesting teams to watch next season for many of us.
Interestingly, ASU is scheduled to play WSU and UW on back-to-back Saturdays next year. ASU travels to WSU on Oct. 6 — hugely interesting if Price gets the job — and then hosts the Huskies on Oct. 13. Here’s ASU’s schedule for next three years.
