Opener could be moved

Wanted to pass along our story today that Syracuse officials are in talks with ESPN about moving the 2007 season opener with UW to either Thursday or Friday night.
Since it’s Syracuse’s home game, it’s mostly out of UW’s hands. But the Huskies are in full support of whatever Syracuse wants to do here. First, it would give UW some national TV exposure. Second, it would also allow for at least an extra day or two of rest in a season-opening schedule that is brutal — UW returns home after the Syracuse game to host Boise State and Ohio State, the two remaining unbeaten teams this season.
Also, this is a big recruiting weekend for the Huskies. Here’s a list of players expected to visit. Some have already committed. The big, uh, catch is receiver Anthony Boyles, and some of you have passed along the rumblings that he’s already committed and will announce it after his trip. If so, that’s a huge get for the Huskies and a player who could immediately contribute next season.
