Syracuse game moved up a day

In case you missed it, here’s a link to our story about UW’s opener next year with Syracuse being moved up a day so it can be telecast on ESPN.
Here’s also a link to the release on gohuskies.com which points out that this will be UW’s first appearance on ESPN since 1999. That was the season opener at BYU played on a Thursday night, a game the Huskies lost 35-28, though in thrilling fashion with Marques Tuiasosopo leading a last-ditch comeback that came up just short. That was the first game for Rick Neuheisel as head coach.
That wasn’t Tui’s first start at QB for UW, as he had started three earlier games due to injury. But it was his first game as the acknowledged starter and was a good indicator of what was to come the next two years.
In a potentially interesting parallel, this game could easily be Jake Locker’s first start as a Husky.
