A few quick answers

Finally arrived at UW and I’ll try now to answer a few of your questions:
— On Boyles and why USC, etc., didn’t recruit him. As some others pointed out, teams only have 85 total scholarships and 25 in one year to give out so they can’t all recruit everybody. USC got a commitment from Brandon Carswell, one of the few Calif. receivers rated ahead of Boyles, and also got a talented transfer in the kid from Arkansas who is leaving there to come to USC. Boyles’ also had an SAT score last reported in the 720 range which might have thrown off a few schools.
— On UCLA. I’m told the Bruins only had 11 scholarships to give out since they were such a young team this year, so that’s why they will have an unusually small class.
— As for Brandon Johnson, I know there are reports out there that he has signed his letter. I don’t doubt those, just reporting that he’s not on the official list yet on the UW site, which is the only “official” list.
— On Jake Locker. He had a lot of family play football at Ferndale and at Western Washington. Here’s a story we wrote last year that has some of those details.
