Erickson contract details revealed

I missed this story when it first ran last week, but found it interesting enough that I thought I’d pass it along anyway.
It’s from the Mesa Tribune and it reveals the details of Dennis Erickson’s contract with Arizona State including the fact that he is guaranteed $5.6 million over the next five years and can earn up to $1.15 million per season in on-field bonuses — basically, bonuses in incremental stages for every win from eight on up, topped off at a $400,000 bonus if ASU were to win 12 games in a season.
It also includes a $750,000 buyout if Erickson were to leave for another job.
That’s a little bit different than Tyrone Willingham’s contract at UW, the details of which we reported on here two years ago. Willingham’s deal isn’t quite as heavy on incentives with about $1.4 million a year guaranteed. Willingham would get $25,000 for a bowl game, $75,000 for a BCS game and $175,000 for making it to the national title game.
Willingham also has a higher initial buyout — $1 million for the first three years.
