Spring ball kicks off today

Spring ball officially begins today with a UW practice this afternoon.
This is one of the practices that is open to the media so we’ll have full coverage here and in the online and print versions of the paper.
Today’s practice won’t be in full pads as teams cannot get into full pads until the third spring workout (that will be Thursday for the Huskies).
Also, teams can be in full pads for just 12 of the 15 allowable spring practices, and can tackle in only eight. And in only three can more than 50 percent of the workout be devoted to scrimmaging.
HASTY VOWS TO BE BACK: I talked with J.R. Hasty last week and wrote this story for today’s paper.
Tyrone Willingham apparently said on KJR last week that Hasty still had some work to do to be eligible. My understanding is that since Hasty’s problem was falling behind on credits (and not so much having a subpar GPA) he doesn’t have much room for error, so he has to stay on top of things through the spring and summer. But my understanding is that he should he do that, he should be eligible in the fall.
Also with the story is a list of five key questions facing the Huskies this spring.
NO TV FOR SPRING GAME: One reader asked about TV coverage for the spring game. There isn’t any, though it will be broadcast on KJR-AM.
