Schaefer commits

Washington garnered its second member of the recruiting Class of 2008 today as Eastlake High offensive lineman Drew Schaefer says he has committed to play for the Huskies.
Schaefer said in a phone interview this afternoon that committed on Thursday after visiting campus and watching practice and then talking with UW coach Tyrone Willingham.
The 6-5, 275-pounder also had an offer from Washington State and interest from Stanford, Oregon, Oregon State and Arizona State but said there was little doubt what he wanted to do.
“I just feel that the best players in Washington should play for their home state and their home school,” he said, adding he also felt he has developed good relationships with UW offensive coordinator Tim Lappano and line coach Mike Denbrock as well as Willingham.
“I just felt very comfortable at the University of Washington,” he said.
Schaefer says he wants to play left tackle but could also end up at guard.
He is UW’s second commit for the Class of 2008 joining lineman Senio Kelemete of Evergreen.
Schaefer was named First Team All-Kingco last fall as a junior on both the offensive and defensive lines.
