Will other UW teams be honored as well?

That was a question one reader had after reading Sunday’s story on the fact that the school plans to officially recognize the 1960 teams as national champs.
At another time, I’ll delve more into the issues regarding that team’s claim to a national title.
But one reader wondered if the 1984 and 1990 teams would be honored in similar fashion, as well, as each had at least one poll rank it as a national champ.
You can find that list here.
Official word is that the school will consider it later. The reality is that there was more urgency to do this now for the 1960 team while team members and coaches can participate in the proceedings.
It’s also a way to spotlight a team that is easy to forget about, given the time that has elapsed.
School officials also felt it was a fitting way to inaugurate the new Legends Center, which is due to open next fall.
