More info on Iweka

Here’s a little bit more on our note earlier regarding Emeka Iweka.
Rainier Beach High coach Mark Haley confirmed today that Iweka, a defensive lineman from that school who signed with the Huskies in February, won’t be able to enroll at UW for academic reasons.
“It looks like he’s not going to make it,” said Haley, who said Iweka is looking at going the junior college route to continue his football career.
Iweka, however, is also still recovering from an Achilles tendon injury suffered during a basketball practice in January and may not be able to play this season wherever he ends up.
“It’ll take a full year to get that right,” Haley said.
Indications are that Iweka is the only member of UW’s incoming recruiting class who won’t be eligible this year, though there remains no official word on receiver Anthony Boyles of Compton, Calif.
