Husky Football Blog

The latest news and analysis on the Montlake Dawgs.

In Los Angeles

I’ve arrived in Los Angeles for Pac-10 media day, where the buzz isn’t likely to be about the Huskies, who I figure will be picked either eighth or ninth in the official poll.
I assume WSU will also be either eighth or ninth, with Stanford at No. 10.
What buzz there is could be about this developing story out of UCLA involving an assistant coach being arrested on suspicion of burglary. Sure that’s just what Karl Dorrell wanted the day before facing the media here.
Also of interest today is ESPN.com’s continuing ranking of every D-I program, based on what those programs have accomplished over the last decade, released in installments of 25. Today’s listing of those teams from 51-75 included the Huskies, tied at No. 52.
Seems a little low to me considering UW has won a BCS bowl game in that time and still has only three losing seasons in the last 30 years. Toledo? Really? Are there really more than three years out of the past 10 you’d pick Toledo to beat UW? Would you really have done so in any year other than 2004? Not too sure.
Anyway, tomorrow the focus begins turning toward this season and the future. Look here for continuing reports.
FYI — Here’s the schedule for media day. You can access the main portion of it through the Pac-10’s website.
