Injury updates

Talked to a couple of UW players who have been battling injuries today to get some updates.
First, linebacker Donald Butler says he’s “definitely 100 percent now” and that the knee that bothered him throughout camp is no longer a problem.
Despite that, he figures to split time again Saturday with Trenton Tuiasosopo as UW coaches appear to like that rotation in the middle. Butler admits that “I’d rather be starting” but says it’s also “the coaches’ decision” and that he’ll go along with it.
Cornerback Byron Davenport, meanwhile, sounds a little more iffy.
Davenport said he was actually injured last Thursday in practice, tweaking his left hamstring while defending a pass (he was already nursing an injury to the right hamstring).
He said thought he could play against Boise State, and tried, getting on the field for four plays total.
But he said when he made that third-down tackle to stop Boise State’s first drive he came up “”and my leg was dead.” He played a few more plays but then decided not to risk further injury.
He said he tried to practice on Tuesday but didn’t do much other than simple warmups. He said he’s not sure he’ll be able to do much more today.
That sounds kind of ominous, but Davenport said this injury doesn’t seem as severe as the first one (he said it’s more of a spasm than a tear) and he thinks he could be okay for Saturday.
